Time to prepare for the rest of October, which will flash by faster than I’ll be able to capture it here. Today was the springboard: sunny and cool, little pockets of time to meet and regroup.

Trevor and I started with morning coffee to unpack all that’s occurred in the last three days, all that’s coming in the next three weeks. We sat in the living room. It’s too cool now to keep the sunroom open over night or use it in the morning. I’ve moved my plants inside and replaced the them with dried grasses.

I completed a morning routine—journaling, reading, workout, breakfast—just in time to take a call from a future NYU student. I love talking to the incoming students, answering their questions and reliving my time in the MFA.

Trevor and a business partner were working in our office all day, also waiting for the boiler repairman to show: we found a leak in our basement ceiling this morning, the stuff of real life (and these inconveniences always seem to pop up when life is already hectic). I worked at the kitchen counter until my next meeting, at school.

The evening was slow, thankfully. I skipped yoga. Iris came home earlier than expected. I burned dinner and no one cared. We rested and read and turned in early.
