Every year, I forget how many absolutely perfect days you get in a Colorado fall. Maybe that’s why it’s so glorious—it feels like a special surprise, a gift to encounter day after day of golden sunshine, light breezes, and warm, comforting temperatures that aren’t even near hot. Today began like a regular Sunday, and I made sure to do Sunday things, like a crossword puzzle.

The girls went to play with the neighbors and I had to pick up groceries, so I decided to make errands a lovely task instead of a chore. I stopped at the other grocery store for good coffee and roses to play with. I got another fall-themed magazine and gaped again at the $12 price tag. I picked up a bottle of wine just for me and cute little ghost pumpkins to set around the house—I don’t know what’s come over me, I have never been a seasonal decorator except for Christmas.

Trevor came home to us by dinnertime and we all collapsed, swearing that the next weekend we wouldn’t be as busy, knowing that it probably wasn’t true, but it made us appreciate snuggling up in the sunroom for our family Bible study while the sun fell.
